About Tennis in Netherlands

Over the years tennis has established itself as the Netherlands' second most popular sport. Here competitions and tournaments are organised to allow players of all levels to compete on a regular basis, particularly during the months of April and May.

The big event in the Dutch tennis calendar is currently the ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament, which is part of the International Series Gold of the ATP Tour. Since 1972, this indoor tennis tournament has been held annually at the Ahoy Rotterdam sporting arena in Rotterdam.

Travelling tennis fans can reach Rotterdam in a variety of ways: by car, boat, train, bus, and by air. Rotterdam is an up and coming air hub with flights regularly arriving and departing from major cities across Europe. The Netherlands' biggest airport is Amsterdam Schiphol, Europe's 5th busiest and the country's main international gateway. If landing here, excellent rail connections will enable you to complete your onward journey with ease. In fact with transport link being so good, some fans choose to book hotels in Amsterdam and travel to Rotterdam to watch the games. Rotterdam itself has a well-integrated system of buses, trams, water taxis and metro.

Another tennis event of note taking place in the Netherlands is the Ordina Open.
