About Tennis in Italy

The Italian Tennis Federation is one of the most active in the world. It organises many international tournaments, including the prestigious Internazionali BNL d'Italia, an annual event held every May, which sees the best players in the world battling it out at the Foro Italico in Rome. Previously known as the Italian Open, the men's competition is part of the ATP World Tour Masters 1000 and the women's competition is a Premier 5 event on the WTA tour. The event is world-renowned and often combines tennis, high fashion and fine food, so no wonder many fans fly to Italy from all over the world to see the event and combine it with a short holiday, booking hotels, exploring the city and viewing its picturesque surroundings.

Rome is home to Italy's busiest air gateway, the Leonardo da Vinci-Fiumicino Airport. Travelling fans can take full advantage of flying into Rome and connecting to the Stazione Termini in the city centre by a fast and efficient dedicated express train service. Once in Rome, a well maintained public transport system will help you journey between your hotel and the tennis matches with the minimum of fuss. Good rail connections also mean that other Italian cities are well within reach.

The Italian Tennis Federation also organizes the Milan and Palermo ATP tournaments as well as WTA Palermo even.
