Melbourne Park is a sporting venue in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia that has hosted the Australian Open tennis tournament since 1988. It is located near the Yarra River, to the east of Melbourne city centre.
The two main courts used in the tournament are the Rod Laver Arena and the Hisense Arena, both of which feature retractable roofs that can be shut in the event of rain or extreme heat.
While it is best known for being a tennis venue, Melbourne Park also plays host to a number of other sports and musical events throughout the year.
For those flying in from overseas, Melbourne Airport is a major international travel hub and serves destinations all over the world, including the UK. The airport is 25km from the city centre.
Whether travelling to the arena via public transport, on foot, car or taxi, Melbourne Park is readily accessible from any direction and a mere 10-15 minute walk from the centre of Melbourne.
