The Stadio Flaminio is the home of the Italy rugby union national team, and is located in Rome, Italy. The stadium has a capacity of 32,000, making it the smallest of the Six Nations venues. However, small it may be, but it is arguably the prettiest of the Six Nations venues, with its tree-lined hillside backdrop. The single-tier stadium was constructed on the site of an older ground in the late 1950s to help host the 1960 Olympic Games (you can see the five-ring symbol above the players' tunnel). As for the city of Rome, it needs no introduction. If you fancy an overnight stay, it is highly recommended that you use a hotel near the Stadio Flaminio as a base to explore one of the world’s greatest cities. Getting To Stadio FlaminioRome’s international airport – Leonardo da Vinci-Fiumicino – connects to cities across the world. The airport is situated 35km from central Rome and it is advised that you take the train from the airport into Rome Termini station, instead of an expensive taxi. Stadio Flaminio is easily reached from the centre of Rome. The nearest Metro station is Flaminio (Linea A). If you'd rather not walk from here, take tram number two from Flaminio, opposite the gateway leading into Piazza del Popolo. The tram stops by the stadium. |
