The RDS Stadium, also known as the RDS Arena, is located in Dublin county, Leinster, and has been the official home of Irish rugby union team Leinster since 2007.
The arena is part of Dublin's RDS Irish International Convention and Exhibition Centre and is the country's premier venue for meetings, conferences, exhibitions, trade shows, entertainment and sporting events. The Society itself was founded in 1731 to promote the development of agriculture, arts, science and industry in Ireland.
The sports arena underwent vast refurbishment prior to Leinster’s arrival, boosting the capacity to 18,500. A new playing surface was also laid, enabling it to withstand the demands of a full rugby season, as well as host show jumping events.
The arena was originally limited to hosting equestrian events, but now stages rugby and soccer matches as well as music concerts. It is also a major venue for exhibitions, conferences and business and social gatherings.
Reaching Ireland requires a boat or plane but with Dublin a major tourist centre there are numerous travel options.
Dublin Airport is served by various locations across the UK, Europe and beyond and is 15km from the Arena.
Dublin has two ferry ports - Dublin Port and Dun Laoghaire, operated by Irish Ferries and Stene Line. From Dun Laoghaire there is a local train service that goes to the Ballbridge, which is the closest station to the Arena.
If you need an overnight stay and would rather be within quick reach of the Arena than stay in Dublin, a good hotel option would be the 3-star Bewleys Hotel Ballsbridge, which is next door to the venue.
