About Motorsport in Switzerland

Switzerland used to hold some of the world's most prestigious racing events, such as the Swiss Grand Prix and the Swiss motorcyle Grand Prix at the Circuit Bremgarten, however, motor racing was banned here in the aftermath of 1955 Le Mans 24 Hours disaster in France. The ban was lifted in 2007 and steps are being taken to re-establish the sport here. Swiss drivers have continued to drive outside the country, the A1 Team Switzerland, the Swiss team of the A1 Grand Prix have enjoyed success in recent years. The Rallye International du Valais is popular rallying event that has taken place in recent years on the roads around Martigny and Sion in the south of Switzerland.

Fans flying to Switzerland will likely arrive at one of the busy international airports in Zurich, Geneva, Bern or Basel. Getting around Switzerland is very easy, particularly by train. The rail network here offers excellent services, many of which are also an excellent way to view Switzerland's stunning scenery.
