About Motorsport in Ireland

The most popular motorsport in Ireland is Special Stage Rallying. Events are held throughout the year with many races take place all around the country. The races enjoy an enthusiastic following both home and abroad. A recent addition to the Irish racing calendar is Rally Ireland, which is part of the FIA World Rally Championship. The event runs north to south and is one of the largest sporting events in the country, attracting around 250,000 spectators.

Ireland's most famous (and only) international motorsport venue is Mondello Park, situated in Caragh, County Kildare. It hosts the Irish rounds of the British Superbike Championship, the British Touring Car Championship and the British Formula Three Championship, as well as FIA GT Championship, rallycross and pickup truck racing events. The circuit is located about 40km west of Dublin. Fans often choose to book accommodation in Dublin city centre or along the coast and make the journey to Mondello Park by car or public transport.

Motorsport fans travelling to Ireland will likely arrive by air at Dublin Airport, although there many fast and efficient ferry services to Ireland from Britain and France. Trains are one of the most inexpensive and reliable ways to travel around Ireland. Lines run to across most of the country and some routes even pass along Ireland's stunning coastline. There is also a good road system for those with private transport.
