The Le Mans motor racing circuit is in the town of Le Mans, France. It is the setting for the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans, the world's oldest sports car race in endurance racing, held annually since 1923.

The circuit consists of both permanent track and public roads that are temporarily closed for the race.

During the event, Le Mans resembles a festival as much as car race. The town buzzes with international visitors and the noise of the cars can be heard from the city centre. Although it is officially prohibited, the tradition at the end of the race is for the public to invade the circuit.

Close to the circuit is the Le Mans Automobile Museum, which houses 150 vehicles, including cars dating from 1914

Getting To Le Mans

The best bet is take the TGV train which goes via Gare Montparnasse in Paris.  The trains run every hour and take 55 minutes.

There is also a direct TGV service from Charles de Gaulle Airport which takes 90 minutes.

Le Mans has numerous good road links to the rest of the country and it takes roughly two hours to drive from Paris.
