Motorsport has always been popular in Austria, but in recent years there has been a dearth of motor racing events in the country. The Salzburgring is the only racetrack of note still holding motorsport events. It hosts numerous events throughout the year, particularly touring car races, such as the German ADAC Procar Series. It is located just east of the city of Salzburg, in a narrow, alpine valley. Motorsport fans travelling to the Salzburgring can fly into Salzburg Airport, a regional air hub that has connections to many important European cities.
