Location. Historic York House hotel is situated in Lisbon, Portugal, 500 metres from the revamped Alcantara docks and two kilometres from the Bairro Alto, or old town. Both districts are renowned for their restaurants and nightlife. Lisbon (Portela) International Airport (LIS) is 12 kilometres away.
Hotel Features. Housed in a 17th century mansion house, York House has been carefully converted into a two storey hotel. The interior has been modernised, but retains its traditional character with brick archways, white walls and wooden floors. At the rear is a terrace filled with palms and lush plants, providing a shaded seating and dining area.
York House's A Confraria Restaurant has classical decor, a bar area and seating spilling onto the terrace. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, it serves a selection of Portuguese and international dishes. Room service is available 24 hours a day.
There are conference rooms and a fully equipped business centre on site, as well as computer rental service and wireless Internet access throughout. Multilingual staff provide a 24 hour concierge service.
Guestrooms. The 32 air conditioned guestrooms at York House are individually styled with simple, modern decor and wooden floors. Rooms offer satellite television, wireless Internet access, minibars, safes and complimentary designer toiletries.

Distance to York House is 12 kilometres, approximately 15 minutes' drive.
Getting there. Aerobus shuttle, number 91, runs between the airport, the city centre and the Cais do Sodre railway station every 20 minutes. Tickets cost 2 EUR for a single and 3.10 EUR for all day travel, and can be purchased on board. Public buses depart regularly for a variety of destinations in the city. A shuttle bus runs hourly to Estoril and Cascais, costing 8.50 EUR. Taxis cost 10 EUR to Lisbon city centre. There are extra fees for luggage and a 20 percent surcharge for night services. Prices are all subject to change.
Getting around. An integrated tram, bus and metro system operates in Lisbon. Tram numbers 25 and 15 pass two blocks from York House hotel, providing easy access to the city's attractions and shopping. Daily passes can be purchased for travel on public transport. Street elevators and funicular railways transport passengers to Lisbon's Bairro Alto. Ferries run between Lisbon and Cacilhas. Taxis are fairly inexpensive.
