Location. The Stanton House Hotel is located overlooking Stanton Lake and Park, one mile from the country village of Stanton Fitzwarren and four miles from Swindon in Wiltshire, England. Wiltshire is home to the prehistoric sites of Avebury, 20 miles away, and Stonehenge 39 miles from the hotel.
Hotel Features. The Stanton House Hotel is a Cotswold stone building in rolling parkland. The hotel has an ornamental rose garden typical of an English country house, and there are regular entertainment nights. Practical amenities include currency exchange and safe deposit boxes.

The Mount Fuji restaurant at Stanton House, serves authentic Japanese dishes at traditional Hori Gotatsu low level seating. The Rosemary restaurant, with lakeside views, also serves sushi, sashimi, noodles and tempura, as well as European dishes. There is a Sunday buffet and All You Can Eat Nights on Thursday and Friday. Breakfast is available (surcharge).

There is a business centre with services including translation, fax and photocopying. Wireless Internet access is complimentary, and conference rooms and small meeting rooms are available.

Expert Tip. Swindon, five miles from the hotel, is the setting for the works of literary detective Thursday Next, creation of novelist Jasper Fforde, and some of the streets have been named after his characters. The Neolithic stone circle at Avebury is slightly older than the more famous Stonehenge; both are within 40 miles of Stanton House.

Directions


From Heathrow Airport (LHR):
Distance to Stanton House Hotel is 69 miles, approximately 90 minutes' drive.

Getting there. The M4 motorway runs from London and Heathrow airport to Bristol and the west of England, and passes five miles from the hotel. A taxi from Heathrow will cost around 75 GBP. There are national railway and bus stations five miles away in Swindon. Prices are subject to change.

Getting around. The 75 and 76 buses run from Mill Lane in Stanton Fitzwarren into Swindon. A car is recommended for exploring the wider countryside.

Driving directions. From London and Heathrow airport follow signs for the M4 west.
From Bristol follow signs for the M4 east.
Leave the M4 at junction 15 and take the A419 to Swindon/Cirencester.
Cross the roundabout and take the exit for the A361 (Highworth Road) near Stratton.
At the end of the exit turn left off the roundabout and proceed 600 metres.
Take the turning on the left to The Avenue.
