Hotel studios are extremely spacious with double or twin beds and a generous lounge area. The studios are equipped with a separate bathroom and corridor kitchenette plus microwave oven. Apartments have a full open-plan kitchen and a generous lounge area plus separate bedrooms and bathrooms. All rooms have a sofa bed should guests need extra accommodation, and a full-size kitchen with conventional gas oven and rings.

The hotel provides an outdoor swimming pool.

This hotel has occupied its particularly privileged position for a full 150 years. With sweeping views over the natural amphitheatre that forms the bay of Funchal, the apartments and villas are set in a family-owned working Quinta (farm) of just 2 hectares of land featuring banana plantations, flowers and cobbled paths. The hotel is only a short distance from the centre of Funchal, and yet offers a very private sanctuary that is rarely disturbed by the bustle of the city below.

From the airport, take the quick lane (dual carriageway) and follow sign posts for Funchal ER101. Leave the motorway at exit 13 at the sign for Funchal Boa Nova, Palheiro Golf. At the junction turn left, and continue straight on the ER204 road in the direction of Funchal. Pass under a small bridge, following signs to Funchal Boa Nova, continue straight ahead. Pass a church on the right-hand side and some meters further on the entrance to the Botanic Garden, also on right-hand side, continue straight on the main road. After passing a row of shops on the right, a Chineese Bazaar and a Pink House with a Palm Tree which seems to grow from its roof, follow the road to the right (sharp bend) and just after the bend take an immediate left and see warning sign Rua da Rochinha. Continue on this road and turn left at the 2nd entrance to Travessa Manuel Alexandre, a small street in between two high walls, a school on the left and Quinta Mãe dos Homens on the right. Half way along this road guests will see the large green gate on right of the Quinta.

The reception is open from Monday to Friday from 9:00h till 18:00h, Saturday from 9:00h untill 12:00h. Please inform your arrival flight if it is not on the opening hours.
