The Pousada D Maria is located in the square in front of the 18th century Queluz national Palace. It is five kilometres away from Lisbon and there are trains and coaches to Lisbon just ten minutes walk away.
The bedrooms are large and in exceptional condition. The decor is traditional 18th century in green and red colours with mahogany furniture and wooden floors. The bathrooms are also in exceptional condition.
The cozinha velha restaurant is installed in the old kitchen of the Palace which at one time served the royal court. Many of the features of that time have been maintained with large fire and roasting spit and copper pots.
The medium-sized lobby is bright, airy and welcoming with cream marble throughout. It leads into the lounge and breakfast room.
This is an l-shaped, pink and white, typical 18th century palatial building. It has its own courtyard to the rear.
D. Maria Pousada is located in the building formerly used by the Royal Guard of the Court in the Palace of Queluz, known as the "Portuguese Versailles".
