This Pousada is situated nearly 250 metres above sea level in an almost unassailable position. It is only half an hour's drive from Lisbon by motorway. From its location one can enjoy a 360o panoramic view. Nearby, you can choose different cultural as well as leisure visits-from the city of Setubal and Troia Peninsula to Portinho de Arrabida on the coast, where the National Park faces the clear waters of the Atlantic Ocean.
These are spacious decorated with delightful furniture, terracota tiled floors covered with marvellous carpets and wood beamed ceilings from which iron lamps hang giving a medieval atmosphere.
It seats 140 people and food is good.It has won the title for the national cookery contest thanks to its gaspacho, arroz de frutas do mar (shellfish and rice) and vitela assadano forno(roast beef with rosemary). The menu is extensive and there are many good wines produced in the region.
It is not very spacious but cosy and welcoming.
It incorporates the modern while preserving the traditional features. This Pousada nestles within the village castle, with the old convent cloister incorporated, which belonged to the order of St.James.
Palmela boasts excellent wines and superb cuisine, and it is also the perfect starting place to discover the Costa Azul and the magnificent Arrabida Natural Park.
