Records show that there was a house on the site of Nidd Hall at least 100 years before Elizabethan times and its oldest rooms, the cellars, date from this period. Yet Nidd Hall is perhaps best remembered for its 20th century history and the rumoured first fateful meeting between Edward VIII and Mrs Wallis Simpson. Nidds Georgian serenity is fit for the most regal of encounters and its easy to imagine the lovers-to-be exploring this elegant Grade II listed stately home and its landscaped gardens. Nidd Hall sits within 45 acres of Victorian and Edwardian parkland, sculpted lawns and stepped terraces, the perfect manicured foil to the nearby glories of the Yorkshire Dales. Within 20 minutes youll be entranced by the medieval masterpiece of Fountains Abbey, while York, Bolton Abbey and Harewood House are all easy to find. Directions
From the A1 (M): Leave the A1M at Junction 47 signposted to Harrogate, Knaresborough and York. Take the A59 to Knaresborough and follow the signs into Knaresborough. Go straight through the Town Centre and at the Bond End traffic lights turn left, then immediately right onto the B6165 signposted Ripley and Pateley Bridge. Nidd Hall is on the right hand side approximately 4 miles along this road outside Knaresborough. Have a safe journey. We look forward to seeing you soon!
