The former Renaissance palace, Hotel Monna Lisa, is located in Florence, Italy, just 150 metres from Santa Croce Church, 300 metres from Duomo, Uffizi Gallery and Central Market, and 500 metres from Palazzo Pitti.
Hotel Features. The palace was built in 1300 as a convent and was later transformed into a residence, where many oil paintings and antiques grace the salons and guestrooms. Original touches from the 16th century, such as the cotto fiorentino flooring, bar desk and wooden ceilings, still remain intact. An American style bar serves cocktails and light snacks. Internet access is available, and meeting space is provided. The hotel offers a solarium and fitness room.
Guestrooms. Guestrooms are filled with fine art and antique furnishings. Cable television is provided. Bathrooms feature telephones and makeup mirrors.
Expert Tip. The largest Franciscan church in the world, Santa Croce Church, features 16 chapels decorated with frescoes by Giotto. The former Friar's dormitory today houses the Leather School, where guests can view artisans make leather goods that are sold in an adjacent gift shop.
