Introduction: Formerly the Great Southern Hotel, Hotel Meyrick combines modern facilities with old world charm and opulence. The best address in Galway City, Hotel Meyrick combines a stunning four star Victorian hotel with a superb convenient location. Built in 1845, the hotel has played an integral part of life in Galway City for over 160 years. While staying here enjoy the many things this vibrant city has to offer. From shopping, sightseeing to socialising there are endless possibilities of entertainment right on the doorstep.
Accommodation: Rooms are decorated in a modern theme with rich crimson and cream colours combined with ultra modern light fittings. Standard facilities include: Cable / Satellite TV, Hairdryer, Iron & ironing board, Mini bar, Modem/data port connection, Pay-per-view movies, Private bathroom / Ensuite, Radio & Telephone. For a little more luxury, also available are Superior rooms, Junior suites and Level 5. Level 5 is a superior level of luxury at the Hotel Meyrick Galway, the entire fifth floor of the hotel has been transformed into 10 suites plus a private Executive Lounge for guest use. Level 5 can only be accessed with a key card for one of the suites, allowing guests exclusive access to the floor and there is a private entrance to the Square, the hotel leisure club.
Meals & Gastronomy: The Hotel Meyrick offers a range of bars and dining options, from fine dining in the Oyster Grill Restaurant, to the laid back atmosphere of the Oyster Bar to the late night lounge, TOSH. Traditional afternoon tea to the tinkling of the pianist playing the grand piano is another tradition among Galway people, enjoy a quiet reprieve after a hectic days shopping or sight seeing in the sumptuous surroundings of the hotel lobby.
Congress and Meetings: For Board meetings, the Meyrick offers three magnificent rooms; the Padraig O Conaire, Brian Collins, Liam Mellows. Heavy leather chairs, wood panelled walls, large fireplaces and rich drapes really set the tone. For a VIP board meeting, delegates have the option of hiring exclusive use of Level 5, the exclusive all suite fifth floor of the hotel, a full audio visual service is available on site. For a large meeting the Connemara Suite can cater for up to 350 delegates, there are a range of boardrooms that can be used for break out meetings, or for smaller events. The Connemara Suite also has a Mezzanine area which can be used as an exhibition area, or for refreshments.
