Naturally integrated into a verdant, eight hectare hillside garden overlooking the Bay of Funchal, Choupana Hills Resort & Spa consists of 34 wooden bungalow style units on stilts, one kilometre from the town centre. The 58 units feature contemporary, warm toned decor with Asian inspired furniture and vaulted ceilings. All offer balconies with sea or garden views, satellite television, direct dial phones, minibars, safes, hair dryers, coffee/tea makers, CD/DVD players and Internet connections (surcharge). Bathrooms have complimentary designer toiletries, bathrobes and slippers.

Directions
A taxi from the airport to the hotel costs approximately 25 EUR. Alternatively, guests can pre book the airport shuttle (surcharge) or catch a bus. Travellers will find Funchal's streets very easy to navigate on foot, but Madeira itself is quite hilly and therefore taxis provide a cheap and reliable alternative. Buses also operate in and around Funchal, while ferries take tourists to other coastal towns.
Driving directions: From the airport head for Funchal. Take exit 13 for Jardim Botanico (Botanical Gardens) and Camacha. Continue and then turn left following the signs to Funchal. Drive under the viaduct and continue down the hill for approximately two kilometres, turning right in the direction of Botanical Gardens and Choupana Hills. After the gardens, turn left, drive up the hill and turn right at Miranda Restaurant. Continue and turn left at the Choupana Hills sign. The hotel is 250 metres along.
