Description
The Hotel stands above the Avon Gorge. It is a whitewashed building with four floors, and guests can enjoy views of the river Avon and Brunel's bridge.
All 82 rooms are medium in size and in fair condition, along with the bathrooms. They are furnished with colour television, radio, direct dial telephone and tea/coffee making facilities. There are also five luxurious suites; two of which are self-contained flats, with kitchen, dining room, lounge area, Jacuzzi, bathroom and private garden.
The restaurant has wide-open windows providing views of the river Avon. It specialises in prime scotch beef. A large varied menu is available with excellent choice for everybody. A beautiful decking is outside where tasty bar food is cooked all day. Amazing views overlooking the George and is quite famous for a meeting place for locals. Eating here is definitely recommended.
The Hotel is located on the edge of the city, about one mile from the centre, and within easy reach of the M4, M5 motorways. It is about two miles from Bristol station, which with its high speed rail service, provides excellent links to London.
Bristol airport is 7 miles away from the Hotel.
The Hotel has a cocktail bar with a blazing fire and tinkling piano. The White Lion bar has a fine pub atmosphere and serves hot and cold buffets. The location of this hotel is beautiful, especially on a fine day with lovely views over the suspension bridge.(06/07IT)
