The Abbey Hotel sits in a prime location on the side of the beautiful Wye Valley, overlooking the ruins of the famous Tintern Abbey, which was founded in 1131. Parts of the hotels building date back to 1206 when it was inside the original precinct wall of the Abbey. The earliest trade directory in which it was listed as an hotel was 1835, when it was known as the Beaufort Arms Hotel. The landlord at that time was for many years recorded as being the keyholder and official guide to the Abbey. Although the hotel has undergone many changes throughout its history, in 2002 it was completely refurbished and renamed.

Directions
From London, the South or South Wales: Leave the M48 at Junction 2 and follow the signs for Monmouth, A466 or the Brown Tourist Attraction signs for Tintern Abbey. Go straight over High Beech roundabout to Chepstow Racecourse. Go straight over this roundabout with the racecourse on your right. Follow this road through the village of St Arvans for 4 miles. The Abbey Hotel is the first building on the left, immediately opposite Tintern Abbey. From The North; Leave M5 at junction 8 to join the M50 to Ross-on-Wye. Join A40 to Monmouth, straight over the roundabout, staying on the dual carriageway to the traffic lights. Turn left onto the A466 Chepstow Road. Follow this road for 12 miles through Redbrook, straight over Bigsweir Bridge traffic lights, through Llandogo and the village Tintern. The Abbey Hotel is the last building on the right, immediately opposite Tintern Abbey.
