Wales is home to three racetracks, which between them offer a mixture of flat and jump race meetings. The richest and most prestigious race event held in Wales is the Welsh National, which is organised every December at the Chepstow Racecourse in the county of Monmouthshire, southeast Wales. The competition is a Grade 3 National Hunt race which is open to horses of four years old or above. Other big events held at Chepstow include the Finale Juvenile Hurdle and the Persian War Novices' Hurdle.
Another popular racecourse hosting the National Hunt races is the Bangor-on-Dee Racecourse situated in the gorgeous countryside of Bangor-on-Dee, a small village located on the banks of the River Dee near Wrexhan in north Wales. Wales' final racecourse is the Ffos Las Racecourse. It is surrounded by hills and glorious countryside, and offers excellent events and modern facilities for all visitors to enjoy.
Wales has good road and rail links with England. International fans taking flights to Wales will arrive at Cardiff Airport, currently the country's only international air hub. International fans making the journey to the Bangor-on-Dee Racecourse will be better off taking a flight to either Liverpool or Manchester and continuing their journey by train or bus.
