The Liberty Stadium is the home ground of Swansea City A.F.C. The club moved here in 2005 after spending 103 years at their previous ground Vetch Field. The new stadium cost £27 million to build and, with an all-seater capacity of 20,532, is the third largest stadium in Wales. The first match held here was fixture between Swansea City and Fulham on the 23rd of July 2005. Swansea City A.F.C shares the ground with the Ospreys rugby union team.

As well as football and rugby matches, the Liberty Stadium has also hosted concerts by artists such as Elton John and The Who.

Visiting supporters are housed in the North Stand at one end of the pitch. Up to 3,500 away fans can be accommodated in this stand; the number of tickets sold determines whereabouts in the stand the seats will be allocated. Unusually, the club does not sell tickets to away fans on the day of the match or allow paid entry. Travelling fans will need to buy match tickets in advance from their own clubs ticket office. The usual match sustenance (pies, pasties, burgers etc) and alcohol is available inside the ground; television screens let you keep an eye on the match as you queue. The North Stand provides an excellent view of the action and with the vocal home support making a lot of noise, the atmosphere in the Liberty Stadium can really buzz. Swansea City has a passionate following that can unfortunately border on intimidating; it is advised to keep visiting colours concealed around the ground.

The ground is located about two and a half miles from Swansea City Centre, so fans looking for hotels near the Liberty Stadium will be disappointed by the lack of choice close by. However, the selection of accommodation in the city centre and good transport links to the stadium more than make up for this.

Getting To The Liberty Stadium

By Car

There isn't any match day car parking available at the ground for away supporters so fans arriving by car are advised to make use of the park and ride scheme at Swansea Vale. The car park is just off Junction 45 of the M4 and is very well sign posted so it won't be hard to find. Parking costs £5 per vehicle; this includes the bus journey to and from the stadium. Street parking is heavily restricted around the ground so fans determined to drive into Swansea should head for the city centre and park in one of the many multi-storey car parks available and take public transport to the match. A good idea would be to choose a hotel a Liberty Stadium hotel with parking and make your own way to the ground.

By Public Transport

Swansea's main railway station is about two miles south of the stadium. The walk is fairly straightforward and should take about half an hour. Turn right out of the station and head up the high street. Turn right at the traffic lights into Neath Road. Keep going up Neath Road and you will eventually arrive at the ground. Fans that don't fancy the walk should look out for the match day shuttle buses running from the station to the stadium or take a taxi. Local bus routes 4 and 4a also pass by the Liberty Stadium. Fans arriving in Swansea at the Quadrant Bus and Coach Station will also be able to catch buses 4 and 4a to the ground. Fans that choose a Liberty Stadium hotel in the city centre will find public transport the most convenient way of getting to and from the match.
