The Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan is the home stadium of Sevilla FC. The stadium opened in 1958, replacing the clubs previous home the Estadio Nervion; the inaugural match was a friendly between Sevilla FC and fellow Andalusians Real Jaen on the 7th September of that year. The ground takes its name from Don Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan, a former chairman of the club who was instrumental in the stadiums development but sadly died before it was completed. The Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan was designed by architect Manuel Munoz Monastery, the same man who gave Madrid the famous Santiago Bernabeu Stadium, the home of Real Madrid C.F. In its current all-seater incarnation, the Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan has a capacity of 45,500, although, before new seating regulations were introduced the capacity was around 70,000.

As well as the home games of Sevilla FC, the stadium has also held the final of the 1986 European Cup and games from the 1982 World Cup (most notably the semi-final between France and Germany). The stadium also holds the particular honour of being the only Spanish ground on which the Spanish national team has never been defeated in an international match.

The ground is located in central Seville about 1.5 miles east of the historic core of the city. This central location means that fans looking for hotels near the Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan will find plenty of choices close by. MATCHhotels.com lists over 50 hotels within 1.5 miles of the ground.
