Stadio Artemio Franchi is a football stadium in Florence, Italy, and is the home of ACF Fiorentina.
The stadium was built in 1931 by the renowned Italian architect Pier Luigi Nervi and has a capacity of 47,282.
In order to be meet requirements for the 1990 World Cup, the stadium underwent significant renovations including the removal of a running track and an increase in the seating capacity.
Stadio Artemio Franchi is located about 1.5km from the historic centre of Florence, and can be reached by foot in around 20 minutes
On match days, regular trains run between Florence’s main train station, Santa Maria Novella, direct to Campo di Marte which is next to the stadium. However, Santa maria Novella is not centrally located, so if travelling from the city centre your best option is to walk.
Alternatively, bus lines 7, 17 and 20 connect throughout the city and will all get you to the stadium.
There is no international airport in Florence and the nearest – in Pisa – is an hour away by road or train. If you’re using Pisa International Airport (aka Galileo Galilei Airport) and have a late arrival or an early return journey, you may want to consider a hotel near the airport. A good option would be the 4-star My Hotels Galilei, which is 500 metres from the airport.
