Hotels   Guide

Carrow Road has been the home venue of Norwich City F.C. since 1935. The original stadium took a mere 82 days to build, construction began on the 11th June 1935 and the first game was played on the 31st August 1935. A lot of redevelopment work has been done on the ground since the early 1980s; the oldest stand dates back from 1979 and the newest (the Jarrold Stand) was completed only recently in 2004. Delia Smith is perhaps the clubs best-known supporter; she is a joint majority shareholder and even has a restaurant in the stadium. The grounds current capacity is 26,034 all-seated and the club regularly draws crowds of around 24,500.

Visiting supporters are seated in one side of the new Jarrold Stand. The 2,500 or so away fans housed here can expect excellent views of the match, and, as it to be expected of a new stand, the facilities are very good. Thanks to Delia Smith's presence at the club, the food here is touch above the usual match sustenance. Pies are baked on site, and alongside regular flavours, a changing selection of match day specials will add some interest to proceedings. Carrow road, due to the friendly local support and modern facilities, is regarded as one of the best away days in football. The recent addition of the stadiums very own Carrow Road hotel will further add to the overall experience of visiting the home of Norwich City F.C.

Getting To Carrow Road

By Car

Fans travelling to Carrow Road by car will likely approach Norwich from the South or West. If coming from the South on the A11 or A140, join the A47 towards Great Yarmouth/Lowestoft and take the A146 Norwich/Lowestoft slip road turning left towards Norwich; from here on follow the signs to the ground. Fans coming from the West will approach Norwich on the A47 and should follow the above instructions for reaching Carrow Road. If you lose your way or can't see signs for the stadium then head for the railway station, the ground is close by.

Parking close to the ground can be problematic so fans are advised to park elsewhere in Norwich and make the short journey on foot to the stadium. A good recommendation in Norfolk County Hall; it is sign posted from the A146 and is about 5 minutes from Carrow Road. Alternatively, there are a number of car parks 10-15 minutes away on foot in the city centre. Fans who are staying in a hotel near Carrow Road will find in much more convenient to use hotel parking and walk to the match.

A number of Park and Ride schemes operate to and from the city centre.

By Public Transport

Carrow Road is about a 5-10 minute walk from Norwich train station. To get to the ground on foot, exit the station and turn left. Head towards the Morrisons supermarket and the stadium will soon become visible in the distance. If in doubt, follow the match day crowds.
