Hotels   Guide

Blackpool F.C. has played its home games at Bloomfield Road since 1899. After many years spent crumbling, Bloomfield road is undergoing redevelopment into a modern 16,000 all seater stadium; it currently has three stands and an all seated capacity of 9,788. In its heyday the Bloomfield Road stadium could house up to 38,000 spectators, the record attendance being 38,098 for a match against the Wolverhampton Wanderers on 17th September 1955. Visiting supporters will find themselves housed in the temporary seated stand on the Eastern side of the ground. The capacity of this temporary stand is 1,700, and with only basic facilities and no roof, many away fans have commented on a visit to Bloomfield Road not being the most pleasant of experiences, especially if it is raining. On a more positive note, the view of the pitch is excellent and the legroom is good.

Blackpool legends Sir Stanley Matthews and Stan Mortenson have been honoured at the ground by having the West and North stands named after them respectively.

Getting To Bloomfield Road

By Car

Supporters travelling to Bloomfield Road by car will be pleased to know that finding the ground is relatively straightforward. Exit the M6 at Junction 32 taking the M55. Keep following this road and eventually you will see the stadium to your right. Bloomfield Road is located in the very centre of Blackpool so it is easy to take in the sights and sounds after the match. Plus, if you have chosen to stay in a hotel near Bloomfield Road, you won't have far to walk on match day.

Parking is available in the large pay and display car parks opposite the stadium. Prices can vary depending on time of year with the tourist months being more expensive, but generally fans can expect to pay between £1-4. For those prepared to look, street parking can be found near the ground.

By Public transport

Blackpool South is the closest train station to Bloomfield Road (a ten minute walk away), but most travelling fans will find themselves arriving at Blackpool North station. This is a bit further away from the ground, about two miles, so if you don't fancy the walk it is a good idea to jump on the number 11 bus. The bus station is opposite the train station and the number 11 runs regularly, passing the end of Bloomfield Road on its route.
