Headingley Stadium is a sporting complex in the Leeds suburb of Headingley in West Yorkshire, England. It is the home of Yorkshire County Cricket Club. The cricket ground has staged test cricket since 1899 and has a capacity of 17,500. As well as a cricket ground, the complex also features an adjoining rugby stadium which is used by the rugby league team Leeds Rhinos and rugby union team Leeds Carnegie. Both the cricket ground and the rugby stadium share a main stand, making it unusual – if not unique – as a sporting venue. Getting To HeadingleyLeeds is a major UK city and suitably well served by public transport. Leeds railway station is served by trains from London, with a journey time of 2 hours 15 minutes. From the railway station it is about 3 miles to Headingley. The stadium is very well served by buses and local trains from Leeds city centre and elsewhere. The city centre is 2 miles from the stadium. Parking around the stadium is restricted and only pass holders are allowed to park off-street during international cricket matches. The city of Leeds has its own International Airport situated north of the city. It can be reached from all domestic and most major European airports. |
